I received a masters degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in 1990. I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1996.
I’m certified in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I am a trained, certified Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner, and am certified in Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment (TIST). I’ve also studied Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)—an energy therapy, and am a certified Hypnotherapist.
My work is influenced by Daniel Siegle, MD (The Developing Mind: How Relationships and the Brain Interact to Shape Who We Are), Bessel A. Van der Kolk, MD (Traumatic Stress), Alan Schore’s study of the neurobiology of emotional development and how people can learn to regulate their emotions, Francine Shapiro PhD (founder of EMDR), Pat Ogden PhD (founder of Senorimotor Psychotherapy), Janina Fisher PhD (founder of Trauma-informed Stabilization Treatment-TIST, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy trainer and consultant; EMDR consultant), Peter Levine (founder of Somatic Experiencing), and Richard Schwartz (founder of Internal Family Systems).
